Who I am

Doğu Şimşek

I'm Doğu, a Turkish BSc Computing Science student at Radboud University, currently following the Software Science and Cyber Security tracks, with a focus on secure software development and penetration testing.
Through my internship at PurpleBox, I gained hands‑on experience across pentesting, API security and web recon. In my courses at Radboud I developed a useful and intuitive mobile application and gained experience Kotlin and Android Studio in the process. One of my most impactful projects involved making a web-connected IoT device, which introduced me to me microcontrollers and programming them.
My technical experience spans Python, HTML, JavaScript/Node.js, C++, R, SQL, REST APIs, Linux, Git, Burp Suite, microcontrollers, Nmap, Metasploit and more.
Alongside my technical work, I have also been active within TSA Nijmegen as a part of their board, where I contributed setting up events for the Turkish students of Nijmegen as well as establishing and maintaining relationships with partners and sponsors. These experiences strengthened both my communication and collaboration skills.
Long‑term, I aim to complete my BSc, pursue a master’s degree, and continue growing as a software engineer and cybersecurity specialist. I am particularly interested in opportunities where I can combine software engineering and secure system design.
Outside of software development, I enjoy solving CTF challenges, working on hardware and Linux servers, learning Dutch, and staying active within technical and student communities. I speak Turkish and English fluently (C2), Spanish conversationally (B1), and Japanese at a beginner level (A1).

Currently in my second year, exploring topics in algorithms, networks and security, cryptography and more. Open to collaborations, internships, and interesting projects.
